COPE EducatesIf you’re reading this then you are a follower of the COPE Preparedness Monthly Newsletter. You may be aware that we have produced this Newsletter and distributed it FREE to our database every month since 2009. We provide it to you because we are dedicated to our mission of “Promoting Emergency Preparedness through Proactive Community Outreach”.  Though it is free to our readers its production is costly to our non-profit organization. To help us continue to help our community we are asking that you include COPE Preparedness in your year-end charitable giving list. Your gift is tax deductible and will be greatly appreciated.

Along with COPE Preparedness we encourage giving to relief organizations. So many worthy organizations are in need of your contribution and links to some are listed herein.  While what COPE Preparedness does may not reach the level of disaster relief, our work is making OUR communities disaster resilient and will pay off in saving  lives,  preventing injuries, protecting property and the environment when – not IF –  disaster strikes. To quote General Russell Honore – “for every $1.00 we spend on preparedness we save $9.00 on recovery.

Our Monthly Newsletter and On-line library of over 300 articles on emergency preparedness and emergency management has become a vital resource to strengthen the readiness of our communities. That along with the many preparedness presentations we provide the community, including our Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) program, has motivated and trained thousands of community members – you may be one of them – to take the necessary steps to become better prepared to survive, to protect your loved ones and help others in the event of a disaster. Statistics show that “90% of survivors in disasters are rescued by other victims.”

Our organization is directed by a dedicated Board of Directors who volunteer their energy and expertise. They give selflessly because they know how important it is to the safety of our communities, our neighbors and our loved ones that each of us have a PLAN, have SUPPLIES, and have the necessary skills and information to survive and self-sustain. Even so, there are hard costs necessary to maintain our organization, our Newsletter and our programs and we need your support.

Thank you so much! Your generosity will strengthen our communities.

 The Gift of Help

From Superstorm Sandy that struck the northeast U.S. in 2012 to Typhoon Haiyan that recently hit the Philippines, assistance is still needed to help survivors recover.

This holiday season, give the gift of help by volunteering with disaster relief efforts or by making financial contributions through reputable relief organizations such as the American Red Cross, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) and the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD).

Currently these organizations are continuing relief efforts for those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan, Superstorm Sandy, the Colorado floods and more.  Find a volunteer opportunity near you or join your local Citizens Corps today for more ways to get involved!
